3. Student and Minor Privacy
JFM serves high school students, including individuals under the age of 18. JFM's programs are intended for individuals age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
We recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of young people and handling student information responsibly.
Student information is collected primarily through program registration and participation processes. Parents or legal guardians may be asked to provide contact information, permissions, and other information necessary for a student's participation.
JFM uses student information to administer mentoring programs, facilitate mentoring relationships, provide guidance and resources, communicate with students and their families, and evaluate program effectiveness.
JFM uses third-party platforms, including Chronus and Hello Insight, to support mentoring program administration and program evaluation. These platforms may receive student information necessary to provide their services.
Access to identifiable student information is restricted to JFM staff members and authorized individuals who need the information to administer or support our programs.
In certain circumstances, JFM may share specific student information with school personnel when relevant to a student's safety or academic needs, consistent with our partnership agreement with Dallas Independent School District and applicable legal obligations.
Parents or legal guardians who have questions about information collected about their child may contact JFM using the contact information provided below.
4. How We Share Information
JFM does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
We may share information when reasonably necessary to administer our programs and organizational activities, including in the following circumstances:
-
Service providers: We use third-party platforms and service providers to support our operations, including Chronus for mentoring program administration, Hello Insight for program evaluation, Little Green Light for donor management, Stripe for donation processing, and other communications and organizational tools. These providers may access information as necessary to perform services on our behalf.
-
Program partners: When coordinating program activities, we may share limited student information, such as a student's name and potentially grade level, with relevant program partners. We may also share general program feedback and survey results through Hello Insight in aggregate or without identifying individual students.
-
Schools: We may share specific information about a student with school personnel when relevant to the student's safety or academic needs, consistent with our partnership agreement with Dallas Independent School District and applicable legal obligations.
-
Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, court order, or other legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, and security of JFM and the individuals we serve.
We seek to limit information shared with third parties to what is reasonably necessary for the intended purpose. We do not authorize service providers to use personal information obtained through JFM for their own independent marketing purposes.
5. Donations and Payment Information
JFM uses Little Green Light (LGL) to manage donor information and LGL Forms integrated with Stripe to process online contributions.
When individuals make online donations, their credit card information is transmitted directly to Stripe for payment processing. Credit card information is not collected or stored by Little Green Light. For recurring donations, secure payment tokens may be used to facilitate subsequent transactions without storing the donor's full credit card information in Little Green Light.
JFM maintains donor records, including names, contact information, donation amounts, dates, and other transaction details necessary for financial reporting, donation acknowledgments, and organizational purposes. Stripe maintains its own payment processing, privacy, and security practices.
JFM does not sell, rent, or trade donor information.
6. Text Messaging and Mobile Information
JFM may communicate with students, parents and guardians, mentors, volunteers, donors, event participants, and community partners through SMS and MMS text messages.
Text messages may include program announcements and updates, meeting and event reminders, scheduling coordination, workshop information, event logistics, and other communications related to an individual's participation in or relationship with JFM.
Consent to Text Messaging
Individuals may voluntarily opt in to receive text messages from JFM through online forms, registration processes, or other methods that clearly disclose the nature of the text communications and request permission.
Providing a telephone number does not, by itself, constitute consent to receive text messages. Consent to receive text messages is voluntary and is not a condition of program participation, services, or donations.
Mobile Information Privacy
JFM does not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent records are not shared with third parties. This includes prohibiting the sharing of such information with third parties or affiliates for any purpose other than facilitating the delivery of text messages on JFM's behalf. Messaging service providers may process mobile phone numbers and related information solely as necessary to provide these services and may not use that information for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Opting Out
Recipients may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, recipients will no longer receive text messages from JFM unless they subsequently provide new consent.
Recipients may reply HELP for assistance or contact JFM directly using the contact information below.
Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.
7. Data Security and Retention
JFM takes reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Access to personal information is restricted to JFM staff members and authorized individuals who need the information to fulfill their responsibilities. We also rely on third-party service providers that maintain their own security measures.
JFM retains personal information in accordance with its organizational records-retention practices and applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and grant requirements.
Generally, student and mentor records are retained throughout the individual's active relationship with JFM and for a minimum of three years following the end of that relationship, subject to applicable retention requirements. Certain records may be retained for longer periods as necessary.
Donor and financial records are retained in accordance with JFM's financial and organizational records-retention schedule. Certain records, including contribution records, financial statements, general ledgers, and documents evidencing restrictions on gifts, are designated for permanent retention.
Records identified as temporary under JFM's records-retention schedule are generally retained for seven years, unless a different retention period applies.
JFM may also retain historical, aggregate, or de-identified information for program evaluation, organizational reporting, grant reporting, and historical purposes.
When personal information is no longer needed for its intended purpose or required retention period, JFM takes reasonable steps to securely dispose of or de-identify it.
Although we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our website and communications may contain links to third-party websites, platforms, or services. These may include our mentoring platform, donation processing services, event registration platforms, and other resources.
When individuals access third-party websites or services, their information may be subject to the privacy policies and practices of those providers. JFM is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.
We encourage individuals to review the privacy policies of third-party services they use.
9. Individual Privacy Requests
Individuals may contact JFM to ask questions about personal information we maintain, request corrections to inaccurate information, or inquire about how their information is used.
Parents and legal guardians may also contact us with questions or requests concerning information collected about their children.
We will review and respond to reasonable requests in accordance with applicable laws and our organizational obligations, including applicable records-retention requirements.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Any updates will be posted on our website with a revised effective date. We encourage individuals to review this policy periodically.
